41.
42.

43. Hello followers of Ruby's website posts! I figured it was time for an
44. update as I've had a lot going on over here! A lot of fun stuff, and
45. some not so fun stuff, but I'm still doing my best! I hope this post
46. finds you well and if not, I hope things get better for you soon!
47.

48.

49. I just want to get the difficult stuff out of the way first. My
50. grandfather died recently and I've been having a lot of complex
51. feelings about that lately. I hadn't spoken to him in years because he
52. said a lot of horrible things about me in regard to me being a trans
53. woman. I wish at some point before he became completely unable to
54. communicate that I would have tried to reach out to him and maybe get
55. him to understand me better, but now he's gone, and I have no chance
56. of doing that.
57.

58.

59. I really looked up to my grandfather. My grandfather was an electrical
60. engineer and I loved hanging out with him. He was often a total
61. asshole, but he always had something cool to show me that he was
62. working on. He also would make me little trinkets with all of his
63. fancy equipment he had for things like woodworking. He was, again, an
64. asshole at times, but also very caring towards me in my youth. His
65. legacy is why I ultimately chose to pursue engineering after I
66. realized it as a path for funding my continued survival and personal
67. projects. I'd like to think he would have been proud of me if he could
68. have gotten past his bigotry.
69.

70.

71. I also haven't been sleeping well ever since I started college. It's
72. starting to have a pretty negative impact on my physical and mental
73. health. Things like my grandfather dying aren't helping either. I'm
74. very behind on my coursework and my grades aren't looking too hot in
75. two of my classes, but I'm going to do my best to keep catching up now
76. and especially during spring break. I think in the future, I'm going
77. to try to take as many online only classes as possible. Waking up so
78. early in the morning to do things like calculus has been sort of
79. awful. I've always been a pretty severe night owl, and I've tried
80. every combination of things to get myself to go to sleep at a
81. reasonable hour, but it all has failed. Therapists and such love
82. recommending practicing "sleepy hygiene" which hasn't helped me at
83. all. I also have tried various sleep aids which all left me too tired
84. to function during the day. I could barely keep my eyes open even
85. taking melatonin, let alone trazadone. I've also been having brief
86. bouts of psychosis, which has been a little scary. I really wish there
87. was more schedule options for students like me.
88.

89.
90.

91. On to the fun stuff! I’ve been playing a lot of games in my spare
92. time. Like a Dragon: Pirates in Hawaii is an absolute blast. I’ve also
93. been cycling through various STG as per usual these days. I’ve been
94. playing a lot of Parodius and Gradius again especially. I recently
95. picked up Gradius III and IV for PS1. I haven’t checked out the PS1
96. port of III yet, but IV is really cool. They’re on the same disc which
97. is great. I still don’t have a PS2, so I’ve just been dumping them to
98. play in an emulator for now. I hooked up my smaller CRT as a third
99. monitor again, so that I can still play them on the CRT. I’ve been
100. playing a lot of games, but I’ve been doing something related that’s
101. also a lot of fun too!

106. I recently got nerd sniped by there not being an entry for Steam

108. ripping just the ship and playable character portraits from the PC

149. However, I also took on the task of ripping Hikaru from Sexy Parodius
150. from the PS1 version of the game via dumping the textures that are
151. stored in memory while the game is being run. I used the great PS1

163. The way sprites are stored for this game is a bit of a garbled mess,
164. so I had to manually align different sprite sheets together in a sort
165. of digital multilayered jigsaw fashion to get this sheet together. I’m
166. very new to this, so I did my best. There may be more to her

205. I hope to rip more sprites from these games, and more sprites from
206. more games in general. It’s a bit of a pain in the ass, and methods
207. are inconsistent across platforms and even games on the same system,
208. but it’s a lot of fun. I’m doing it both as an act of preservation,
209. but also self interest for getting better at making my own pixel art
210. for the games I develop. I might even make some fan games at some
211. point! I recommend trying out ripping sprites yourself. There’s a
212. bunch of resources on spriters resource and plenty of games with
213. entries needed!
214.

216. I’ve been doing doing the best I can in life as of now, but I'm still
217. trying to have fun at least. Here’s a bunch of drawings I did recently
218. of varying quality. Spoilering them all since several of them are
219. erotic and I’m not sure how many of my readers would want to see that
220. stuff. Have a good one! -Ruby

246.

247. The doctor's visit took a long time. I spent most of the time there waiting in
248. the lobby while a terrible hallmark movie was playing. It was very loud. There
249. was also a guy there that kept pacing around having really loud phone calls in
250. between arguing with the clinic employees. It was weird. I got a tetanus shot
251. and an antibiotics prescription. Woohoo yippee! The doctor said I need to go
252. the ER if it doesn't get better because there might be foreign material still
253. in my foot if so. That doesn't sound too good. They should invent a way for
254. doctor visits to be super quick and I don't have to wait in a lobby for three
255. hours.
256.

257.

258. I am also extremely tired. I'm not sure if it's because of the vaccine or just
259. the mind poison of the sounds happening in that place, but I feel so
260. exhausted. It also really hurts to walk still. I'm glad I have the whole
261. weekend to recover. I of course have some studying and assignments to catch up
262. on, but I'm not too stressed about it. I am just very tired.
263.

264.

265. I don't know what I'm going to do for the rest of the day. I don't want to
266. take a nap because I definitely am going to at least be doing some homework,
267. but I don't want to fill all of my time with just that because I'll turn into
268. a monument of stress. Perhaps I will play some more Minecraft or Cyberpunk
269. 2077. Maybe I will play something else entirely. There's even a chance I'll do
270. something besides play videos games and do homework. If you have any
271. suggestions please email me at rost at rubymayvalentine dot net. I'm not sure
272. what to do with my time while I recover from foot hurts outside of those two

293.
Otherwise, I am in good spirits.

294.

295. I'm a bit worried about this whole infection in my foot business, but I'm
296. hoping I'm catching it early enough that things will be okay. I stepped on a
297. toothpick the other day while cleaning up toothpicks that my cats knocked off
298. the table. It hurt really bad and I've been unable to walk good since. Today
299. it was feeling a lot better, but looks a hell of a lot worse. Oops!
300.

301.

302. I thought it'd be fun if I started putting time stamps in the content part of
303. these and which rost number it is, so I did that this time. I have WebDAV set
304. up on my PC again, so it'll be a lot easier for me to make these rosts now. I
305. mostly made them on my phone beforehand, or if I did do them on my computer, I
306. still had to upload them through the WebDAV setup on my phone. That was pretty
307. annoying.
308.

309.

310. My wife was in the hospital this time last week, but is okay. However, I
311. missed school that day because of it. Now, I am going to miss school because
312. of me being at urgent care and such. Every time I start a new semester I
313. really feel like Job. I also feel anxious that my professors think I'm just
314. making up excuses or whatever. I have a deep seeded fear of getting in trouble
315. for stuff that I didn't do/etc because that happened to me a lot as a kid. One
316. time at daycare I was in indoor like tiny playhouse thing and I found a bag of
317. mini oreos, so being the proper child I was I brought them to the boss lady
318. because I didn't know who they belonged to. She then started screaming at me
319. about how I'm a thief and a liar. She grabbed me by the face and forced my
320. mouth open to look at my teeth (weird). Unfortunately for me, I had eaten
321. cocoa puffs that morning at home, so it appeared I still had bits of chocolate
322. crumbs in my mouth. Stuff like that happened a lot to me as a kid where I
323. tried to do the right thing, but was ultimately punished for it! I'm nearly 30
324. years old and still scared of getting in trouble for telling the truth. There
325. was a post going around for a while about "Every day I check my email waiting
326. for the email that says "You're in big big trouble and everyone is mad at
327. you." and I really relate to that lol.
328.

329.

330. I'm waiting for my wife to get out of a meeting so that we can go get my foot
331. checked out. I'm going to try to enjoy the rest of my day. Have a good one!

384.
I've been making some games such as fuheji no daibouken [sic] for the last year now off and on. It's not done yet but you should play version 1.6.0. Thanks. Yesterday I started making a new game called 「CODENAME: CRANE」as part of the 2025 Boss Rush Jam. I intend to develop it into a full title after the jam is over. However, it has a lot different design principles than Fuheji-san, so I think it's worth playing both. You should also follow me on itch if you have that and keep up with the updates. You can easily install my games with the itch launger. That makes updates automatic or something I guess. Wow! (It's very useful).

385.

386.
「CODENAME: CRANE」screenshot of the tutorial.

387.
I haven't forgotten or abandoned good dear old fuheji. I just pushed a new build two days ago! However, 「CODENAME: CRANE」 has had a somewhat unusual response from people who have seen images of it or played it. They <span ">like it. I'm not saying people don't like fuheji, or anything else I make. However, people seem to really dig 「CODENAME: CRANE」 immediately. I've somehow found the secret sauce of my decades of artistic endeavors. Use all of the skills that you have to make a bullet-hell that is beautiful looking. I know so much stuff about a lot of topics and I'm using as much of it as possible to make these games. However, 「CODENAME: CRANE」 has an even secreter sauce. I'm narrowing my artistic vision to focus on key design elements or something people say to sound cool.

To present somewhat of a metaphor or something. Fuheji is how I act when I'm being normal around people I'm extremely close to. Most people don't like that version of me in real life. 「CODENAME: CRANE」is the artistic equivalent of me trying to pick up a sexy lady at a bar. It's sexy. Thank you for reading.

388.
I cannot fuck this up please tell people about this game.

Here's my spiel I'm sharing on fedi and such. Feel free to "rerost" this if you don't mind, or share on social media and such. Maybe a wealthy person moved into the new house they built at the end of your block and you can ask them. Also if by any chance you are able to help, if you'd like to use zelle then email me about it since there's no "DMs" like on fedi. We've raised $100/$600 so far.

439. "Hi everyone. My wife and I are trying to raise money again to hopefully get us out of the cycle of perpetually borrowing against our paychecks and from friends and also to get things like groceries, gas, and my wife’s medication.
440.

441.

442. My wife had a rough transitional period between jobs after leaving a job that wasn’t paying them properly (i.e. they went an entire month without pay) which is what got us to this spot of constantly borrowing money and owing it back to people as well as taking advances from their paychecks.

443.

444.
445. We’re hoping to raise roughly $600 as that is what my wife has estimated will help us out of this mess. I’m a full time student so I don’t make very much money myself, so anything helps. We currently have no money for groceries or gas.
446.

447.

448. You can send money to help us with the following information:

451. Cashapp: Bxnshy
452. Venmo: Bxnshy
453. PayPal: payment@rubymayvalentine.net

498. />
499.

500.

501. Over the last few months, I’ve gotten into fighting games for the
502. first time. The experience has been extremely rewarding and has been
503. an entryway to social connection I never thought possible for myself.
504. Fighting games are challenging, fun, and a great way to make friends.
505.

506.

507. In August, I finally gave a fighting game a proper shot after the
508. encouragement of my longtime online friend. That game was Tekken 8.
509. Since then, I’ve put nearly 200 hours into the game on steam. This may
510. sound like a lot, but I know someone who already has 1500 hours in the
511. game on steam alone. The game was released in January of this year.
512. Those 200 hours have mostly been filled with social interaction online
513. with my friends. They’re much more experienced with fighting games and
514. Tekken in specific than I am and have been teaching me a lot of
515. important tools for being great at Tekken. I’ve also spent even more
516. time playing Tekken in person at “casuals” every Friday. Basically, a
517. bunch of us meet up with our computers and PS5s in a community center
518. we have reserved to play Tekken 8 pretty much exclusively.
519. Occasionally people play other fighting games like Street Fighter 6,
520. Marvel vs Capcom, among others, but the focus is primarily about
521. Tekken. These local meetups are a wealth of knowledge considering some
522. of the people there have won many a tournament. They have deep insight
523. into this game and I’m very thankful I found my way into this
524. beautiful scene. I’m glad I’ve given fighting games a shot.
525.

526.

527. In Tekken 8, I play Reina. Reina is a “Mishima” which is a family of
528. characters primarily unified by their “Crouch Dash” and “Electric Wind
529. G-d Fist.” They are also related to each other. They are rather
530. complicated characters “to pilot,” but extremely rewarding if you make
531. the effort to specialize in one. Reina is my favorite of the Mishimas,
532. and the only character I play. Her movement is very quick and fluid
533. which I value in action games in general. Her style of play reminds me
534. of the “snake style” from Lost Judgment, which is a 3D beat-em-up
535. spin-off of the Like a Dragon series of games. I’m sure most people
536. who read my blog know how much of a fan I am of those games. The snake
537. style Yagami possesses in Lost Judgment is one of my favorite systems
538. to pilot in all of the games I’ve played, so Reina, while the system
539. is very different in Tekken, felt right at home.
540.

541.
Reina looks like this.

542. <img
543.
544. src="https://rubymayvalentine.net/images/reainadefaultsmall.png"
545. alt="a young video game woman with short black and purple hair wearing a hoodie with her head leaned on her fist while she sits on a throne."
546. />
547.

548. However, thanks to the character customization, she most often looks
549. like this for me now. I do have plenty of other outfits I’ve made for
550. her though.
551.

552.

553. <img
554.
555. src="https://rubymayvalentine.net/images/heihachireinasmall.jpg"
556. alt="character selection screen showing my reina on the right side who has the same outfit as the default but it's red and gold instead of purple and black. She has a hoodie with three diagonal stripes on the front with a shoulderless top and a collar underneath. She wears gloves and shorts with leggings. I've made her hair long and red in addition to giving her a red mask that covers her nose and mouth alongside a pair of red circular lens glasses. Her father heihachi on the left side is an old man with the same color palette. He's very buff."
557. />
558.

559.

560. On the left side there is her father, Heihachi, who I’ve also
561. customized to have a red and gold color palette.
562.

563.

564. I’ve been told I have a bit of knack for the genre, but I try not to
565. let it get to my head. I mean, it is hard for it to anyway considering
566. how often I get my ass beat horrifically by people way more
567. experienced than me, but it is nice to hear at the very least. It
568. gives me hope that I can eventually excel at Tekken and become one of
569. the best players in the world. However, for now, I’ve gone 0-2 (zero
570. wins in two separate best of three matchups) at two separate
571. tournaments so far. The experience is always quite humbling, but also
572. very enlightening. I learn new things about the game each time I play
573. someone I’ve never played with before, and so I like to fight as many
574. people as possible. I don’t have the financials to be able to travel
575. for tournaments outside of my state yet, but I hope I can do that
576. eventually. I hope I can also travel to other countries to play Tekken
577. with people. Playing with new people is always quite rewarding. I may
578. have good instincts, but I have to improve my technique significantly
579. to compete.
580.

581.
I also have a cool controller.

582.

587. />
588.

589.

590. Anyway, I’m really enjoying my time playing fighting games. If you’ve
591. never played one, I hope you give it a shot and go to your local
592. meetups if they exist. The experience has been excellent for me.

641.
This week has been pretty rough. Due to my medicine withdrawal related illness, I did not manage to do any studying over the weekend, so I bombed four quizzes at school this week. That is not exactly great for my grades, but thankfully I have a whole rest of the semester to get those back up. I'm not a fan of doing poorly on assignments, quizzes, or tests, so I am somewhat demoralized, but I just hope to do better by studying more.

642.
My birthday is on friday, but we're having a small get-together at my mom's house on saturday. I look forward to it and apparently my wife has some elaborate surprise, so I am also somewhat frightened.

643.
Also, I've seen some people mention wanting to make rosting easier. If you can't find a good automated option or make on yourself, you can do what I do which is use a template. I just paste into my feed and edit it as necessary which does make things quite a bit easier. Hand-editing XML still does suck a bit, but I personally wouldn't have it any other way. Though if more automated options do come about that are solid, I make become more inclined to use them to make my life a bit easier.

696. link which I thought was fun. You absolutely can and should write your blog from your phone! I mostly write my blog from my phone and all of these rosts. I use a software called Textastic on my phone as a text editor because it has webDAV support, so I can upload files from it direclty to my host (neocities) whenever I need to. I use this in combination with Working Copy, which is basically a git client that works with github, so that I can keep track of what I've done for the website between my phone and my PC. These two apps are available on iOS, but I am unsure about android and other mobile OSes. I'm confident that other feature rich text editors and git clients are out there for y'all that don't use iPhones though, and I hope you will use them. Write your blog from your phone!

701.
p.s.s.s this rost has been updated because I notices the two links in the beginning looked lik they were one link due to being right next to each other. I have corrected this and hopefully this is reflected in your reader.

724.
Tekken 8 is so much fun and I love fighting games now and forever.

725.

726. If you've been following my social media posts the last few months you may know I've been getting really deep into Tekken 8. I want to be one of the best Tekken players in the world. I want to be in the fun EVO intro videos. Anyway, I went to my first Tekken 8 tournament, and first tournament ever, and lost both of my sets 0-2 (I did not win a single match). However, I had a lot of fun and came pretty close to winning the second set I played.

727.
I was extremely nervous and let it get the better of me which resulted in me not performing that well my first set and immediately placing into the losers bracket. I at least did a lot better after that, but still lost of course. I think I will do a lot better next time because I know how tournaments work now, so I have less things to be anxious about. I'm actually pretty good at Tekken 8 now despite only having played it for two months. I know this because my opponent who has been playing the same character in this series for 15 years was shocked that I had only been playing for two months. Also my friends who have been playing for about 3 decades say I'm good too. I obviously need to get a lot better if they are going to erect a gold statue of me in Las Vegas, but I think I'm on the right track.

728.
My friend Shōji recently said, after I was talking about wanting to get good at Tekken to make extra money on the side, "Something I really like about you is that everything you do is always secretly a ploy to make money. You've got the New Jersey grindset attitude." It's true; while my motivations, for getting good at Tekken and most other things I do, are mostly about having fun and meeting new people, I also would like to win one of those tournaments where they hand you $30k for pressing buttons the right way. I will achieve this eventually and it is only a matter of time

729.
Anyway, if you have comments or want to play Tekken 8, you can email me at rost@rubymayvalentine.net

739.
The Eric Andre Show

740.

741.
The Eric Andre Show Is Good Television

742.
I'm a fan of Eric Andre not gonna lie. I've been following him on instagram for a while and he's been posting clips from the show lately, so I wanted to start watching it again. I think I just watched the first few episodes of season 1 and I think Like a Dragon 7 came out, so I stopped doing anything else other than playing Like a Dragon 7 and drinking Sapporo until the early hours of the morning every night. Anyway, this man is cool to me.

743.

744. Eric Andre is a villain. The clips he's been posting lately are of him harassing pretty notable celebrities on camera about details of their lives they may not want talked about at all. It's pretty incredible and I really want to know why some of these people agree to be on the show. I wonder if they're tricked into appearing or something to be honest. Some celebrities it's pretty obvious Andre is cool with them. However, with others they seem genuinely thrown off and at a loss for words with what Andre throws at them if not downright angry or upset. I am absolutely floored that Abby Lee Miller appeared on the show despite how much awful shit she's done to other people including children. Eric Andre is at his best when someone truly despicable is sitting with him on camera. There's also a bit in season 1 where he and his crew storm right wingers exiting the tea party meeting center and offer them KKK hoods, confederate flags, and white power signs. Seeing these old racist white dudes get big mad is fucking incredible. Eric Andre is an absolute menace in the best way possible.

745.
This show is great. It is often disturbing and ironically low brow, but seeing people who've done awful shit squirm under the pressure of Eric Andre is beautiful. We don't often see people who abuse their power get a taste of their own medicine, and on television no less. Eric Andre has made a career out of making that happen and I thank him for it.

746.
You can email me at rost@rubymayvalentine.net if you have comments. I'd love to hear about what shows you've been watching lately or anything else!

857. src="https://rubymayvalentine.net/cans.JPG"
858. alt="9 cans with small plants in them hanging from a rack in front of a window"
859. class="resimg"
860. />
861.

862.

863. When I was around 10 years old, I grew a
864. bean plant from a seed starting kit marketed towards children. I was
865. quite excited by how big it had gotten over time. Eventually, my cat
866. ate and destroyed the plant. I was absolutely devastated. My mother
867. had an impressive garden when I was a teenager. It was going quite
868. well when her boyfriend at the time had a manic episode and decided to
869. rip every plant from the ground and literally eat patches of the soil.
870. We didn’t have a garden again after that.
871.

872.

873. I am now 27 years old, coming on 28. In early April, I began
874. gardening. I started basil with a seed starting kit I bought at the
875. Dollar Tree down the road. I was shocked to see any sign of life. Once
876. the basil had gotten bigger in its cramped little container, I
877. attempted to transplant all of them and left one in the container. I’m
878. glad I left the one in the container; the rest died outside. The one I
879. left is doing great. It smells amazing. This was not the last time I
880. killed countless seedlings, but as of last week, I have learned my
881. lesson at this point.
882.

883.

884. I now have more plants than I know what to do with. I have countless
885. peppers, tomatoes, and a corn crop going outside that is doing quite
886. well. I’ve been fashioning containers out of cans, not sure if it
887. would work well or not, but it has. I later confirmed that these would
888. be acceptable growing conditions thanks to the “Pepper in a Can”
889. challenge that is popular on Facebook. People attempt to grow a pepper
890. in a can from seed to fruition between the months of February and
891. September every year. Judging is based on how many reactions each
892. plant gets. My internet pal Lori and I are currently doing a year 0
893. with porting Pepper in a Can to the “Fediverse.” I think it’s going to
894. be fun, and we have a few people joining in already. My challenge
895. peppers are doing well. I’m participating on both Facebook and Fedi.
896.

897.

898. What I’ve learned so far from growing plants is patience, and the
899. ability to accept loss. Some plants die for whatever reason. I still
900. get a bit upset when I have some seedlings die out from transplanting
901. to larger containers or what have you, but it’s gotten easier. A small
902. comfort is the hope that as I become more seasoned in this craft,
903. agriculture, that plant death will happen less often. Patience has
904. been far harder to tackle. I check my seed starting containers, often
905. cans or solo cups, to see if anything new has happened; I check them
906. all throughout the day. Sometimes I’m surprised and something has
907. actually happened in the middle of the day, but ultimately, I have to
908. wait. I also must wait to transplant plants until they’re big enough.
909. I also need to wait to “harden them off” before they receive full sun.
910. I live in the desert so regardless of waiting I think I also need to
911. invest in some shade.
912.

913.

914. The corn crop is doing great so far. I had initially sowed some of
915. this “double red sweet corn” a few weeks prior to this post but they
916. didn’t take. That was entirely my fault. I believe I forgot to water
917. them for a few days. When I tried again, I dug shallow trenches and
918. filled them with gardening soil. I’ve been making sure to properly
919. water the plants as well. It turns out that plants need water to
920. survive. Who knew. I’m hoping I can get this corn to fruition because
921. I’m really excited about it. I think it would make for a really pretty
922. ramen topper considering it’s entirely red.
923. <img
924. src="https://rubymayvalentine.net/corn.JPG"
925. alt="a corn plant roughly 6 inches tall"
926. class="resimg"
927. />
928.

929.

930. This tomato plant is doing really well too. It’s a beefsteak tomato.
931. Beefsteak is apparently the largest variety of tomato according to
932. Wikipedia. I don’t know much about different varieties of plant so
933. you’ll have to take their word for it. On the day I’m writing this,
934. I’ve added a “companion” seedling to this tomato’s container. It’s
935. basil. I have so many basil seedlings still and apparently basil is a
936. good “companion” plant for tomatoes and peppers. It keeps insects away
937. and I guess does something beneficial at the soil level. I’m hoping it
938. works out because I like the idea of growing plants together to
939. benefit them. I’m looking forward to tomatoes for things like
940. shakshouka. Also, Ivan Orkin is famous for putting roasted tomatoes in
941. his ramen so I think I might even try that.
942. <img
943. src="https://rubymayvalentine.net/tomatoportrait.JPG"
944. alt="a tomato plant in a clear vase that has a lot of big leaves. It also has a small basil seedling planted with it."
945. class="resimg"
946. />
947.

948.

949. Basil. The basil that has been with me since the start of this journey
950. is going strong. I’m looking forward to using it for things like the
951. Buldak carbonara and caprese salads. It’ll probably find other uses,
952. I’m sure. Thank you, basil.
953. <img
954. src="https://rubymayvalentine.net/basil.JPG"
955. alt="a small basil plant in a cafe du monde coffee can with a lot of leaves so far"
956. class="resimg"
957. />
958.

959.

960. I have so many pepper plants. I’m growing serrano, habanero, cayenne,
961. and sweet. I’m not sure which is which in some cases. I’m sure I’ll
962. find out before too long. This serrano in particular is doing quite
963. well. I’m going to try letting all of these become red instead of the
964. usual green you see in supermarkets because apparently the flavor is a
965. lot better that way. Yay for peppers!
966. <img
967. src="https://rubymayvalentine.net/serrano.JPG"

969. class="resimg"
970. />
971.

972.

973. I also have two cucumber plants that seem to be doing well. These guys
974. are funny because they get dramatically droopy if their water gets too
975. low but perk right back up within minutes once you water them. These
976. are a pickling variety and I’m also growing dill in hopes of making
977. sour pickles. I’m planning on sowing more cucumbers soon.
978. <img

981. class="resimg"
982. />
983.

984.

985. I’m also attempting green onions again. I had some sprouts that were
986. doing well until I unfortunately killed them by bringing them outside
987. too quickly. Again, patience is a key factor with this stuff it seems.
988. I’m going to keep these ones indoors for a few months before doing
989. anything dramatic like exposing them to the deadly rays of the Sonoran
990. sun. Or maybe, I will keep them inside forever. I’m experimenting and
991. learning a lot so a lot of these plants will likely stay indoors.
992. Green onions are great for ramen, yakisoba, chashu, and just about
993. anything else, so I hope they do well.
994.

995.

996. Overall, despite the heartbreak over lost plants, I’m having a lot of
997. fun gardening. It’s been very grounding and a great source of stress
998. relief while I go through school. I recommend it!

1021. Gideon O’Hart and his girlfriend bought an apartment in the heights of Hayden in the year 5783 on the 15th of Adar. It was an average sized apartment with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, and a single hall closet. The apartment had two windows in the living room on either side of the door. The only other window was reserved for the master bedroom facing opposite the living room. The apartment was quite old and had many layers of paint built up on practically every non-counter surface you could think of apart from the floor. O’Hart began moving into his new abode on the 18th.

The first day of unpacking he unpacked the silverware and some dishes so that he could take meals for the rest of the moving in process. When unpacking his silverware, he noticed a small spoon he did not recognize. The spoon was short with an ornate handle of gold and silver, adorned with blue jewels along the neck. The circumference of the bowl was inscribed with words in a script he did not recognize either. He had friends help him pack up his old apartment and thought maybe they found this tucked away somewhere in his attic. The attic had many boxes of various things belonging to his late grandfather. He didn’t think much else of it and tucked it into the miscellaneous section of his silverware drawer.

1025.

1026. The following week he awoke for work and went to make his breakfast. He waddled into the kitchen with sleep still in his eyes. He happened to glance over at the kitchen table and noticed a hot bowl of oatmeal sitting there with the spoon sat next to it on a small cloth napkin. He figured his girlfriend must have made him breakfast. Odd choice of spoon, he thought. He ate breakfast, thinking of nothing other than the day ahead of him.
1027.

1028.

1029. When O’Hart had arrived home from work, he dug in his pocket for his house key. When digging, he noticed an object foreign to him. After pulling it out he realized that it was the strange spoon. He did not find his key. He thought maybe in his tiredness that he may have put the spoon in his pocket instead of the key. He knocked on the door assuming his girlfriend was home. She answered and let him in. He spoke to her about his mix-up with the spoon and they both laughed.
1030.

1031.

1032. O’Hart awoke the next morning to his girlfriend screaming. He also felt a sharp pain in his eyes. He asked her what’s wrong and to turn on the light. She just kept screaming. He told her to calm down and fumbled in the dark to turn the light on. He was quite alarmed when he realized the switch was already flicked on. Maybe the power was out, he thought. O’Hart then noticed the feeling of a small metal object in his left hand. He recognized its shape as the spoon. His girlfriend screamed louder. “Your eyes, they’re gone!”

1042.
New Blog Post!

1043.

1044.
1045.

1046. I just started my second semester of college last month. I’m having a great time! I’m taking an introductory writing course, a math course, and Japanese 102. The schedule this semester has been a lot easier on me than last semester. I take my first two classes in the morning; I have Japanese at night on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so for half the week I’m completely done with classes by 10:50AM. I love it!
1047.

1048.

1049. Quite a few people from JPN101 are in my 102 class so there’s some familiarity which is nice. I’m learning quite a bit more grammar at a faster pace this semester, and more kanji. We’re starting to learn more casual language too which is a plus, so I’ve been practicing that more online. I’ve been trying to find time to practice with some of the classmates I met last semester, but things keep coming up, but hopefully there will be time soon. Overall, I’m having fun with Japanese still and can’t wait to be able to express myself more with the language.
1050.

1051.

1052. Writing class has been really great. My professor is very nice and helpful. I also can’t stop writing now. If you head to the new writing section of my website, you can find some short stories I wrote over the last few days. I want to write a novelette before too long but I’m working my way up with smaller pieces of writing first. I eventually want to write full novels but that’s a ways off. The class has made me feel a lot more comfortable with writing now that I understand the rules a bit better. I’m sure I’ll only improve as time goes on.
1053.

1054.

1055. We got another cat which I somehow failed to mention last time; his name is curry. He’s very cute but quite energetic as he is only 11 months old; we got him in August, so he was about 5 months old at the time. He was quite scared at first which is only natural but he’s quite fond of us now. He meows a lot; we thought pot roast meowed a lot, but curry has him beat for sure. I like the little guy he’s a good cat.
1056.

1057.
1058.

1059. I’ve been playing Like a Dragon 8 which has been an absolute blast. I was a little bummed out at first that there weren’t as many arcade games nor any home console in this one. I quickly forgot after noticing there’s an entire Pokémon/Dragon Quest Monsters game and an Animal Crossing game within Like a Dragon 8. They’ve made some improvements to the turn-based combat as well; area of effect spells are much easier to time now for instance. In Like a Dragon 7, enemies could still move after an AOE spell had been cast, but now they freeze in place once you confirm the spell. It’s a small detail which huge consequences. There’s also plenty of other mini games to keep you entertained if you’re not already overjoyed with the two entire other games they packed into this one. There is also a rogue-like randomly generated dungeon crawler in this one. It’s really nice if you need to level up fast for the next section of the story. I haven’t finished it yet but will do a full write up once I have. Overall, Like a Dragon 8 is the best Like a Dragon game to date.

1060.

1061. I’ve also been playing fighting games more after a classmate roped me into playing something called “Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising.” It’s quite a fun game but I remembered I actually do also enjoy games like Street Fighter and Tekken, so I picked up Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. I haven’t had much time to play them yet, but I already really like them. I want to get better at fighting games. I played an older Street Fighter game against some random guy at the arcade last night; He completely washed me. I’d like to offer at least some challenge to the average cabinet shark at the local arcades so a soft goal this year is to git gud at fighting games.
1062.

1063.

1064. Due to the infectious energy of my writing class, I want to offer more focused pieces on here about various things I enjoy. If you go to the new writing section of my website, while sparse, you’ll see that there is a tag system. I have to manually implement this and while it is tedious, I do enjoy it. Focused pieces of writing, say about a specific game, will be over on that section of the website going forward. They will have tags that I like to imagine overtime will be quite populated with various writings. You will of course also find my creative writing and various other stories there. The main blog here will continue to be whatever other random shit I want to talk about. I plan to add more navigation to that section of the site soon but for now you can use the “2024” tag to see everything published there so far. Your browser should have back and forward arrows in the meantime.

1065.

1066. Thank you for reading! If you have any comments, suggestions, etc., shoot me an email! I’d also love recommendations for anything, music, games, books, pasta shapes, whatever! Have a good one!

1108. SCHOOL IS HARD, MARRIAGE IS EASY

1109.

1112.

1113. Phew, that was difficult, apologies for any grammar mistakes if you read Japanese. Also, if you read Japanese, skip this next paragraph.

1114.

1115. Hello, good evening! I’m so sorry! For the last 3 months I’ve been going to school every day. So I haven’t updated my blog. Sorry!!! Lol, school is very nice. I like it a lot. I’m studying reading, math, and Japanese. My professors and classmates are very nice people. But I’m very busy. Every day I just want to sleep at home. But I’m doing my best!! Lol, but yeah I love school. Also on Sunday I got married to Indigo!!! It was an amazing day, I’m so happy  Anyway, thank you for reading.

1116.

1117. So yeah I’ve been fucking BUSY, I’m a full time student. The workload I face every week is far beyond what I ever could’ve imagine, I don’t have very much free time hence the neglect of my blog, but I’m forcing myself to sit down and write something finally. It’s been so hard to do anything I enjoy outside of school, which to be fair I enjoy very much, but we’re nearing the end of the semester. While things are quite hectic right now I’ve sort of gotten into a routine where I can carve out time to do things I enjoy. For instance, updating my blog! School really is awesome though, I’ve made a few friends which is awesome. I’ve also learned soooooo much more Japanese in a way where I can actually communicate now and express my thoughts. I’m only in JPN101 but I’m doing very well in it, I currently have a B grade. I plan on getting my grade back up to an A. I got sick for a solid two weeks so missed a week of school which set me behind on the course and I did not great on a few tests, but now I’m caught up and ready to defeat JPN101. I’m going to do my best on the final oral exam.

1118.

1119. Other than school I’ve just been playing the new Like a Dragon game, Like a Dragon Gaiden. I finished it shortly after came out and am now replaying Lost Judgment. I can’t wait for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (Like a Dragon 8) in January, I’m so excited. Like a Dragon Gaiden came with a demo for Like a Dragon 8 and it was awesome!!! Highly recommend the entire series of course.

1120.

1121. Finally, I GOT FUCKING MARRIED BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1122.

1123. I’ll post pictures when we get them back from the photographer but holy shit I can’t believe I’m an actual wife now who has a wife.
1124.

1125.
Anyway, good luck out there, the highway is dangerous at night.

1154.

1155. It’s monsoon season here in Tucson, so it’s both very rainy and very hot! Our swamp cooler hasn’t been working worth a shit due to the humidity so we had to crowdfund for a portable AC unit lol, before we got it it had been regularly 90-93 degrees Fahrenheit in here every day, but last night the inside temp was 77! Woo! But yeah monsoon is really ramping up now and I’m excited, it’s my favorite time of year in Arizona because I love rain! I’ve been really scared of lightning in recent years for some reason but I’ll tend to just enjoy the rain momentarily then go back inside unless there’s no sign of thunder or lightning lol. The other day our whole street flooded quite a bit which was wild! I’ll miss monsoon when it’s over but am also looking forward to the more agreeable temperatures in Winter, and it’s been raining all winter the last few years so I’ve still been getting to enjoy lots of rain even when monsoon has ended, so it’s great!

1158. College
1159.

1160.

1161. I start college in a little under 5 weeks now, I’m really excited! My first classes will be Japanese 101 and writing, I’m looking forward to both, unfortunately I don’t have any computer engineer classes my first semester but next semester I think I should have introduction to circuits I think it’s called, either way really looking forward to it! I should be getting my disbursement for my financial aid a week or so before classes start so I’m hoping to get some school supplies and what not, and then in September when my loans are disbursed I’ll be getting a laptop! I’m looking at the new MacBook Pro models since I figure a solid computer will really help with school over the next like 6 or more years, I’ve decided I want to get a master’s degree after I get my bachelor’s because it will give me more job opportunities, I have eyes on a company I want to work for and I hope I can work there, it would be the dream, if I do work there I’d like to pursue a PhD in computer engineering while I’m also working.
1162.

1163.

1164. Japanese learning
1165.

1166.

1167. I’ve been studying a lot! My friend Renkon (check out their blog!) recommended me this site renshuu.org and it’s been really helpful, I’ve been learning a lot more stuff and it’s been good at keeping me engaged, I’ve been trying to aim for studying 3 hours each day lately and it’s been going good so far! I’ve also been watching a lot of Japanese movies and shows without subtitles to practice listening and see what I can pick up from context and such, and just for general exposure to the language, I’ve watched all of the Senritsu Kaiki Files films and have watched nearly all of the Ju-On films! I’ve started watching the series Ju-On Origins now which is cool so far! I’m hoping to pick up some more Japanese edition manga for helping with reading, but I’ve also been using Satori reader which is fun! Also I've been learning the language for over a year now, wow!
1168.

1169.

1170. Games
1171.

1172.

1173. I’ve been playing Like a Dragon 6 and Dragon Quest II recently when I’ve had time, the rumors are true, Dragon Quest II is a lot more difficult than the first one and even more recent ones lol, I like it a lot though the early games are so fun to get into, I haven’t had a ton of time to play games because I’ve been getting ready for school and planning my wedding of course, and now that I have a better climate to work in (Thanks AC!) I’m going to get back to working on a new comic I’ve started for my Patreon subscribers, it’s in Japanese and the English title is Scary Month, it’s about a kitty cat guy that moves into a haunted house! I’ve really enjoyed working on it so far and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. I’ve also placed some games from Nice Gear Games, please check them out! They also do Indie Tsushin where they interview Japanese independent game developers and post digital zines including the interviews plus a bunch of game reviews! It’s a very cool project and I highly recommend it!
1174.

1175.

1176. My friend also sent me Ring Fit Adventure and Live A Live and I’m looking forward to playing both, I’ve been wanting to get more exercise so I think Ring Fit Adventure will be really good! I’m probably gonna set it up and play for a bit tomorrow if I find the time! Review to come!
1177.

1178.

1179. Also Enix announced a new Dragon Quest Monsters title to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series, I’m really excited to play it!!!
1180.

1181.

1182. Social Media
1183.

1184.

1185. I’ve been posting a lot on Twitter again which is now “X” lol, really silly, I guess Elon has been obsessed with trying to name things X for like two decades or something, which was funny to me because during the height of my psychosis in 2016 I was obsessed with the letter X. But yeah, the platform is rapidly deteriorating, he rate limited DMs, so you have to subscribe if you want to DM people past the daily limit, I will not be doing this, and also they’ve been dropping huge amounts of cash on verified right wingers for “engagement,” the numbers seem to be totally fudged in favor of a select few freaks, $25,000, for tweets? Yeah I’m sure that was the natural selection of ~the algorithm~ lol.
1186.

1187.

1188. I’ve also been using activitypub based social media, despite a few bad experiences when I first started using it I’ve found some cool communities on there, tech.lgbt and calckey.jp, people are really nice to me on there and seem to engage a lot with what I say which is a nice feeling, using stuff like twitter I usually don’t get a lot of people commenting on what I say or engaging in conversation with me, so it’s been a nice change using mastodon and calckey (now called firefish I guess?).
1189.

1190.

1191. I really like posting, and I think the fediverse is one of the better places to do it, I kind of want to set up a forum for me and my friends to use before too long, I like self hosting my own things, it’s fun connecting via the internet in more personal DIY ways, I want to plug my IRC server more soon but I’ve been having issues with the machine it’s running on (Orange Pi 3 LTS). I think a forum will be a cooler project though, I think I’ll regularly back it up on archive.org just to preserve my own little history on the net, also check out archive.org and support them if you haven’t!
1192.

1193.

1194. Music
1195.

1196.

1197. I’m working on a new album! I don’t know if I mentioned that last time, I released Hour of the Rooster (my second album) earlier this year, but I’m working on a brand new one! It’s called OUR FM, it’s a concept album, I’m excited!
1198.

1199.

1200. Anyway
1201.

1202.

1203. I think that’s all I got in me this time around, I want to update the blog more frequently, I’m going to aim for once a week, thank you for reading, take care!

1271.

1272. ANYWAY
1273.

1274.

1275. I’ve decided I’m going to be going to college to become a computer
1276. engineer, I am very excited to learn and hope I can become the
1277. ultimate computer genius. I’m not entirely sure what a computer
1278. engineer does or anything but apparently I’ll get to learn all about
1279. how computers and electronics work, which is very practical to me and
1280. the money should be good if I can do a good job, and I will. I’ll be
1281. attending college for the first couple of years to do prerequisites
1282. and then transferring to university for the computer engineering
1283. program, I also hope to take Japanese language as an elective because
1284. my main goal is to move to Japan and be in the field there and I
1285. suppose it will look flashy to employers if I have solid language
1286. credits.
1287.

1288.

1289. Speaking of learning Japanese, I have acquired many Japanese learning
1290. textbooks because while Duolingo is fun and all I’ve realized it is
1291. quite stifling my learning for the most part, just a few hours of
1292. reading a language course textbook made a lot of things make so much
1293. sense! Turns out, studying grammar directly is a great way for me to
1294. learn a language! So yeah I’ve been studying a lot more the last few
1295. days mainly as that’s when I started getting the books and I’m already
1296. feeling more confident that I’ll actualize my goals!
1297.

1298.
Speaking of reading!

1299.

1300. I read Dune! The first novel I’ve read in like 15 years! Yes the last
1301. novel I read was when I was like 10 years old, silly, and yeah I read
1302. a 900 page dense sci-fi novel, and I loved it! It gave me confidence
1303. to pursue the above goals of reading Japanese language learning
1304. textbooks, seriously after reading Dune I feel like I can read
1305. anything!
1306.

1307.

1308. I’m on to reading Dune messiah when I can as I’m mainly reading the
1309. grammar and kanji textbooks and such lately.
1310.

1311.
Time Skip

1312.

1313. It’s been a few weeks since I started writing this blog post as of
1314. this line, and I have a bunch of cool CDs now! I’ve been collecting
1315. Japanese releases that have the obi, and there’s a picture of most of
1316. the ones I have so far at the top of this post, I have more coming
1317. lol.
1318.

1319.

1320. I’ve been listening to a lot more music now because of this which is
1321. nice, I sort of stopped listening to music for the most part except on
1322. rare occasions which sucked, I love music, but now I listen to whole
1323. albums at once pretty much daily which is really nice, right now I’m
1324. listening to III by Masanori Nozawa, Masanori Nozawa is an ambient
1325. producer and DJ from Utsunomiya, Japan. He also runs the label Medium,
1326. I have a few releases from the label now and they’re all very nice
1327. ambient works, highly recommend!
1328.

1329.

1330. I’m going to be registering for classes very soon, and then starting
1331. school in May supposedly, looking forward to it, a bit nervous because
1332. it’s going to be a big change but everyone in my life is rooting for
1333. me so that’s nice.
1334.

1335.

1336. Last night I had a computer disaster, I made the silly decision of
1337. trying to get my PC equipped to upgrade to windows 11, and it did not
1338. end well, I messed up the setup and when I changed my BIOS to launch
1339. with UEFI it made my PC unable to boot, lol, luckily a friend helped
1340. me they told me how to remove the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS and
1341. that fixed it, and so I decided to not get windows 11 after that
1342. dreadful experience and install software that gives me a dock instead,
1343. we have windows 11 at home! Lol
1344.

1345.

1349. />
1350.

1351.

1352. I’ve been working on my new album that releases in September, Hour of
1353. the Rooster, it’s like 17 tracks now, which is crazy, I’m really
1354. looking forward to everyone getting to hear it, and plan to do a CD
1355. release if I can manage it, I’m hoping to get some friends to record
1356. some stuff for the album just waiting to hear back from everyone,
1357. they’re gonna listen to the album to see what they wanna add to it.
1358.

1359.

1360. Speaking of if you’d like to hear the album in its current state,
1361. email me and I’ll send you a copy! Thanks!
1362.

1363.
Anyway hope you have a good rest of your day!

1384.
Ruby May Valentine

1385.

1386. Hello everybody!
1387.

1388.

1389. <img width="50%;"
1390. src="https://rubymayvalentine.net/raspicase.jpeg"
1391. alt="a picture of my desk, showcasing my raspberry pi 4 in its new red and black case!"
1392. />
1393.

1394.

1395. I am very tired while I’m writing this, I’ve been having problems with
1396. getting to sleep lately which sucks! For a while it was just, I was
1397. staying up really late and sleeping during the day but now it’s also
1398. staying up all night and then not sleeping until the following night,
1399. sucks!
1400.

1401.

1402. Other than that things have started to feel normal again now that Pot
1403. Roast has been back home for a while, I’m still super paranoid about
1404. him getting out again though which I guess is better than him getting
1405. out again due to me not worrying about it as much, he’s been doing
1406. good, he’s caught a few more mice too lol, seems to be a never ending
1407. supply of mice here, it’s insane.
1408.

1409.

1410. Indigo is in North Carolina currently but will be back the night of me
1411. writing this post (2023-01-26) It’s currently nearly 5am and yeah, I
1412. haven’t slept, I’ve just been “doom scrolling” as people say nowadays,
1413. which I was doing good with not doing for a few months! I think I’m
1414. gonna try to write here more often than I have been doing to keep
1415. myself off twitter especially, I for some reason cannot help but click
1416. on alarming trending topics and reading horrible, hideous, posts,
1417. which results in panic and despair, which is not healthy. I’d like to
1418. just completely delete twitter, but I do enjoy seeing posts from
1419. friends and my mutuals in Japan that post about video-games and the
1420. weather there.
1421.

1422.

1423. I ordered a bunch of CDs last month which have been arriving
1424. throughout this month, building up a nice disc collection is fun, I’ve
1425. also been ripping the CDs so I can add them to my raspberry pi 4 based
1426. media server so I can stream the audio on my various devices, it’s
1427. cool! I’m my own streaming platform, and with the discs backing it up,
1428. aside from a major disaster and deep levels of bit rot, no one can
1429. take the music away from me on a whim like we’ve seen streaming
1430. platforms do time and time again especially more recently lately, with
1431. adored media. I’ve pretty much only been listening to stuff I actually
1432. own now instead of streaming via Apple Music, which has led to a
1433. deeper appreciation of the music honestly, I had actually mainly been
1434. listening to Young Thug’s album Punk for about two years now until I
1435. started getting more discs because it was basically the only album I
1436. had on disc, I think I still have a copy of Deadmau5’ > Album Title
1437. Goes Here < from my teen years but it’s buried in a storage bin if so,
1438. and is certainly missing the majority of the case, (whoops!). I really
1439. like that album; it’s a shame Joel Zimmerman is a prick.
1440.

1441.

1442. Speaking of pricks most of the CDs I’ve been buying are Kanye West
1443. albums, I’ve been a long-time fan but decided hey, with the
1444. ever-growing amount of horrible shit he’s saying and doing, I don’t
1445. really want to support him financially in the slightest! So I’ve been
1446. buying up discs second-hand so as to not directly contribute to his
1447. ever massive wealth via streaming, and to say the absolute least, I
1448. miss the old Kanye.
1449.

1450.

1451. I also got Daft Punk’s “Discovery” on disc, and have more Daft Punk
1452. discs on the way, I love Daft Punk! My mom introduced me to them as a
1453. kid and would play their music all the time and I’ve been listening to
1454. them ever since, a huge inspiration to my sound, I’ve covered a few of
1455. their songs even, their music means a lot to me so it’s nice to have
1456. it on disc once again! We actually had A LOT of music on disc
1457. including Daft Punk but thanks to fucking iTunes and Apple we don’t
1458. have that anymore, my mom had ripped all of her music to our computer
1459. and added it to iTunes and decided hey I guess we don’t need this
1460. massive amount of discs anymore, and of course later on due to iTunes
1461. and general computer fuckery, we lost all of that music, a sad tale
1462. told many times at this point I’m sure, oh the dawn of the mp3.
1463.

1464.

1465. She’s happy now with her amazon music though, and I don’t blame her,
1466. the wealth of most of the world’s sonic creation at your fingertips?
1467. Hard to pass up. I also have Moonface’s “Organ Music Not Vibraphone
1468. Like I’d Hoped” coming, and additionally “Skullgrid” by Behold… The
1469. Arctopus, great music overall! I’m hoping I can get a WORKING tape
1470. player with audio out before too long though because I have a shit ton
1471. of tapes and I’d like to record their contents and add them to my
1472. media server, a daunting task but I feel the need to do it. I’ll
1473. probably end up ordering more discs next month if finances allow, they
1474. are rather cheap after all, most of the discs mentioned I acquired for
1475. $10 or less, buying second-hand rules!
1476.

1477.

1478. I might actually hit up the local used media chain Bookman’s here
1479. before too long because that’s also a great way to get CDs outside of
1480. eBay and Discogs, and I might check out new stuff I haven’t heard
1481. before, or even find stuff I forgot about, I love music.
1482.

1483.

1484. I’ve also been getting lots of VHS tapes and DVDs which I’ve been
1485. ripping the DVDs but haven’t gotten around to recording any tapes,
1486. because you know, you have to let the entire movie play, and that’s a
1487. long time to not use my computer lol, I have Takeshi Kitano’s
1488. “Outrage” trilogy on DVD now, as well as Fireworks, and I have
1489. Sonatine coming in the mail too, I’d like to get Brother, great movie,
1490. all of his movies are great. Highly recommend.
1491.

1492.

1493. I’ve been watching a lot of “The Brave Yoshihiko” lately, it’s a
1494. Dragon Quest parody comedy inspired by Monty Python and The Holy
1495. Grail, it fucking rules. I highly recommend it, especially if you play
1496. Dragon Quest games. It’s hilarious even without context though, I love
1497. it, I’ve basically just been watching it from the beginning to end
1498. every week at this point, it never gets old!
1499.

1500.

1501. I also added a shop and page to showcase artists I like the work of on
1502. the website here, you can access those pages from the home page, give
1503. it a look!
1504.

1505.

1506. Also it’s the next morning I took a break from writing this post,
1507. Indigo just got back from North Carolina last night, glad they’re
1508. home, it’s very weird when they’re not here, was having a really hard
1509. time sleeping because of it and still am, once again! I’m planning on
1510. just staying up all day and pushing through it, I really wish I could
1511. just retain a normal sleep schedule, it’s hideous to me the habits
1512. I’ve formed since this dog sitting job I took last year, I’ve been
1513. staying up later and not sleeping a lot ever since lol, I was having
1514. trouble sleeping at the peoples house because I always have trouble
1515. with sleeping in new places and that just snowballed into my once
1516. again disordered sleeping.
1517.

1518.

1519. I got a new case for my Raspberry Pi 4, it’s running real cool now
1520. because of the fan that came with the case, really happy with it,
1521. looks cool too! The official case they plug is basically a plastic
1522. coffin for the poor thing so this is a major upgrade, it’s cool that a
1523. little computer has been doing so much for me, i.e. managing my media,
1524. I love it! I hope to one day upgrade to a legit server setup though,
1525. big bulky hardware and all lol.
1526.

1527.

1528. I also made a new comic, it’s about Pot Roast going on a Dragon Quest
1529. style adventure, inspired by the TV series The Brave Yoshihiko, which
1530. is in itself a Dragon Quest parody, it’s listed in the shop for a
1531. print copy but you can also get a digital copy here:
1532. <a
1533. href="https://bxnshy.itch.io/the-brave-pot-roast-and-the-demon-kings-forttress"
1534. >
1535. https://bxnshy.itch.io/the-brave-pot-roast-and-the-demon-kings-forttress</a
1536. >. I took the “no budget” concept from The Brave Yoshihiko and sort of
1537. applied it as an art practice, I will spend as little time drawing the
1538. comic as possible, so I’m doing quickly, purposefully poorly, and not
1539. thinking about it too much, drawing like a child basically, it’s
1540. pretty fun to draw this way, not measuring out anatomy and objects and
1541. shit, it’s the most fun I’ve had making a comic in really long time,
1542. it’s going to be an ongoing series and I’m gonna make the next issue
1543. soon, I think if I can handle it there will be a new issue every
1544. month, don’t hold me to that though lol, it is however very easy to
1545. draw this way so I think it’s possible.
1546.

1547.

1548. Also, I am running a gofundme to pay off some medical debt, dental
1549. specifically, I basically accepted a ridiculous loan that’s impossible
1550. to pay off monthly so I’m trying to raise money to pay it in full so I
1551. can stop wasting money on it, as I do not make very much money,
1552. ($257/mo is my income lol). If you feel like helping or sharing,
1553. here’s the link:

1556. >https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-ruby-with-medical-debt</a

1558.

1559.
Anyway, thanks y’all, have a good one!

1579.
1580.
Happy Thursday!

1581.
1582.

1583. What a week, for me at least!
1584.

1585.

1586. Pot Roast was missing for EIGHT DAYS he got out because we thought he was in the bedroom when he wasn't and the door didn't close all the way when we went outside, what a fucking nightmare! I've had plenty of horrible experiences including being homeless for two years and going to jail twice!!! but I gotta say my cat missing for a bit over a week was the worst week of my life, I was just absolutely miserable, we finally got him back thanks to my neighbor he was hanging out in her yard, I actually had a hold of him a couple days prior but he escaped again when trying to get him in the cat carrier, luckily last Indigo was home so we drove over there this time and got him in the car and then put him in the carrier, it went very smoothly and now he's doing good, I think he missed us cus he's been all over us since getting back, the first thing he did though when getting back home was look for mice, then he fell asleep for a few hours lol.
1587.
1588.
1589.

1590.

1591. Now we're being extremely more careful I'm honestly anxious about opening the front and back doors at all now because of this experience but hopefully will get back to being normal soon, I'm just so worried he'll get out again is all, he's a great cat so it really was horrible thinking I might never see him again before we got him home!

1594.
1595.
In other news

1596.
1597.

1598. My friend gave me a raspberry pi 4 for free so I set up a media server on it with plex which has been super convenient, I've been ripping my CDs and DVDs and soon thanks to the same friend gonna be ripping some blu-rays! I have a few of those two in one things like it has a blu-ray and a dvd and I guess blu-Ray is better so I might as well rip the better version, I actually ended up ordering an orange pi 3 LTS to play around with due to the raspberry pi shortage and more importantly recent behavior from raspberry pi (the company). If the orange pi 3 LTS goes well I want to get an orange pi 5 and build myself a cyberdeck this year if I can swing it, I think it would be fun!
1599.

1600.

1601. I think I might set up a pi-hole on the orange pi I do have coming cus network wide ad blocking sounds funny as hell to me I wanna see what the behavior is like for that lol.
1602. The media server is really nice especially because I have it setup for remote access so I can stream my music and whatever other media wherever I'm at, I don't leave the house a ton but sometimes we go on drives and stuff! I'm currently ripping season four of the twilight zone, I got a good deal on it at bookman's (local used goods store), it's taking forever because it's six fucking discs, I've also been finding old Japanese movies on the internet archive to add cus I thought that would be fun.
1603.

1606.

1607.

1608. I also got some cool stuff in the mail from Japan, Dragon Quest IV collector's set, boxed copy with the inserts of super Mario advance 4, and dragon quest 1 + 2 in box for game boy with all the inserts as well, it's actually the third copy I have of this game but I wanted a boxed copy, my goal is to have all the dragon quest games complete before too long, which I've nearly achieved actually, I'm mostly missing the DS games at this point I'm gonna get the DQ X offline version to fill the DQ X void, I wish a mainline game wasn't a completely online experience but oh well lol.

1620. Also looking forward to getting to the JavaScript side of my online course so I can do slideshows on here for photos since posts like this tend to have a bunch of them.
1621.

1622.

1623. I've also been decorating the house in the style of “maximalism” because my fiancée Indigo likes that stuff, I like it too now though it's fun and very chaotic lol.

1784.
We're trying to complete our pokédexes so we've mostly been trading back and forth and we also both decided we're going to build living dexes of this game so we're gonna both play through the entire games again on second accounts lol, a massive undertaking because it took me so damn long to finish the story, we'll start doing that once we fill every entry in our current games.

1785.

1786.
Also cohost just implemented ATOM and RSS, RSS might be being deprecated on their end because of some technical issues with how shares show up in feeds so I recommend using the ATOM backend for now but you can put the link to my profile in your reader and it'll load up with chosts (cohost posts) https://cohost.org/rubymayvalentine

1914. I just made some coffee with my phin in my red travel cup so I'm ready for

1916. glad I finally found one and that it's actually good, lager with yuzu in it,
1917. exactly how it sounds! It is quite pricey however for the pack of four it

1981.

1983.

1984.
1985. I'm starting up my web dev and computer programming courses again soon so I'm
1986. looking forward to learning more stuff! Also just obsessed with the idea of
1987. posting things to only the RSS feed, my rosts (RSS Posts), they're amazing to
1988. me.
1989.
1990.

1991.
1992.

1993. I added an XML extension to VS Code but TBH it's sort of useful but also sort of
1994. annoying, emmet code completion for html no longer works within CDATA tags
1995. because the XML extension treats it as some special sort of field so what I've
1996. started doing is just adding the CDATA tags after I'm done marking up the
1997. document
1998.

1999.
2000.
ALSO, POT ROAST (my cat if you somehow don't already know) is NAKED, he
2001. must've gotten his collar caught on something at some point. I cannot find it
2002. for the life of me, he looks weird now, it's weird to me. Lmao.

2003.
2004.
the summary and details tags have been removed from the post as per the RSS advisory board's suggestion

2005.
If that details tag above doesn't work don't blame me, blame your reader!
2006. There's actually not standard for what HTML tags are allowed and which are not,
2007. it's a bit silly to me if we're being honest here, but yeah so it's basically a
2008. free-for-all
2009. that's entirely up to whatever developer built your reader!

2106.
2107. so here's last night's blog post (I hope)
2108.

2109. Hey everyone, hope you're doing well!
2110.

2111. I started learning how to cross stitch on October 17th of this year and just finished my first big project! It's King Dragon from Dragon Quest 1 but I made him red (of course). It's not perfectly accurate to the actual pixel art because of the simple fact I was working on it for like 12 hours straight at a time for nearly three weeks and was losing my fucking mind lol, so I messed up in a few spots, it also did not help I was using this water soluble canvas that was warping like crazy because it would get soft from my sweaty ass hands and then harden up again when I wasn't working on it in weird shapes and stuff so it made it hard to make stitches and count properly, I've since started working on some smaller projects with regular waste canvas which is water soluble but still uses actual threads that you just pull out after soaking it in water instead of the entire canvas being water soluble itself, it works A LOT better than the water soluble stuff so I am liking it quite a lot, I did a little ghost looking Dragon Quest slime on one of my t-shirts with it! I'm going to be doing some more projects soon but much smaller than the King Dragon one, it took so long, I was so exhausted from it, but it was very fulfilling to finally complete it and now I have a cool shirt! The shirt actually has a bunch of designs on it and I plan to add more but I've been wanting to decorate more of my other clothes lately since I did such a huge thing on that one and it's already pretty packed with cross stitching lol, I'm planning on doing some of my pants and jeans next!
2112.
2113. I highly recommend cross stitching, it's very fun and affordable! You can get a lot of embroidery floss for like 60 cents each at a fabric or crafts store and the waste canvas I use is also very cheap, and needles, also cheap!
2114.

2115. Dwarf Fortress
2116.

2117. I've also been playing a fuck ton of Dwarf Fortress, it's very easy to be playing it and completely lose track of time, I'm not very good at it yet but it's also very complex of a game and very hard lol, my third fortress which is my current one is about 10 years old now (in-game time) and my Duke just died with no heir so we're back to just having a mayor now, each spring (sometimes autumn?) a bunch of goblins come and wreck everything and kill like a third of the population and I haven't had much luck trying to figure out what to do about it, last time they only killed one person but this time they brought a shit ton more people with them and just wrecked shop lol, I'm honestly just hoping this fortress fails on it's own before too long because I want to check out the world in Legends mode which will give me a lot more to write about over here regarding Dwarf Fortress! You can choose to retire a fortress manually but I just kind of want to see what happens if they fizzle out lol, things are not going well after all!
2118. The population of the fort used to be like 120, now it's diminished to 54 currently.
2119. I highly recommend this game!
2120.

2121. Death Stranding Director's Cut
2122.

2123. I've also been playing a lot of Death Stranding Director's Cut! It was on sale as an upgrade from the base game on steam ($6 wow!) which I didn't get super far into because I got distracted by other things plus Death Stranding is scary so I can only play so much at a time lol. Death Stranding is so cool though, it's the first game I've played that's been Directed? Designed? By Hideo Kojima and I love it, it's such a funny game while also being terrifying as well as chill, the music beats that happen during story stuff like when you're walking to the first city you encounter are awesome and very relaxing, the game is really just a roller coaster of feelings to experience, I'm looking forward to getting back to where I was in the base game to experience more of the story, which is mostly why I'm playing it, I saw someone recently write about how the story isn't its strongest part but I really love it honestly. I'm also going to be playing Metal Gear Solid for game boy soon so looking forward to checking out an older Kojima game! But yeah highly recommend Death Stranding especially if you're into horror!
2124.

2125. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
2126.

2127. I've also been playing a shit ton of Pokémon Scarlet! It's very fun, I have Scarlet and Violet so my sister has been playing my copy of Violet on her switch, this entry is very fun and I love all the new monster designs, especially the spoilery ones I won't mention here in case you want to play it and be surprised!
2128. The new auto battling mechanic in the open world is also a very nice and very welcomed feature.
2129. I don't have much else to say about the game that isn't full of spoilers, but I'll probably write more about it at some point!
2130.

2131. Other News
2132.

2133. I've added an RSS feed for how many mice Pot Roast has killed, it's currently at 13, and I'm not so sure it'll go any higher because I haven't heard any lately lol, he's very skilled and patrols the house to find them and screams if he can't find any. Also unfortunately Pot Roast has been diagnosed with FIV which is weird because the shelter is supposed to test them for that but we took him to his first vet visit and he tested positive for it, luckily we have insurance for him so regular vet visits won't be a problem for us and he's a strictly indoor cat because I'm very opposed to outdoor cats in general so he should be all good but it's of course a bit worrying. He's a great cat. We also got a baby gate to keep the dog out of the bedroom and let Pot Roast jump in and out of the bedroom as he pleases because he loves yelling if to be let in or out lol.
2134.

2135. Indigo (my fiancée) and I have been working on the “Save the dates” for our wedding and are going to be sending those out soon, I think they turned out pretty good!
2136.

2137. I've been tuning more and more out of social media which is strange to me I used to be posting on twitter constantly, I think this blog has helped quite a lot with that it's somewhere I can talk about things in my life and thoughts I have in a longer form with less pressure, I'm not sure if anyone reads these even but it's nice to put it out there any way! If you do read these feel free to email me if you want to comment or just chat!
2138.

2139. My sister gave me a computer monitor so now I can have a total of 5 monitors active if I really want to lol, very funny to me, two regular monitors, a drawing tablet, a CRT TV, and my iPhone or iPad Pro.
2140.

2141. I'm going to be working on more video content/art soon so I'm looking forward to that, I want to do a let's play and some video art as well but not entirely sure what game I want to play and what art I want to make.
2142.

2143. I'm also going to be rebooting my podcast, stay tuned!
2144.

2145. ANYWAY
2146.

2147. Thanks for reading I hope you have a wonderful day!
